Corrosion protection work on hydropower plant components

Knowledge from shipbuilding also creates added value in industry

With a core team, Shiptec carries out corrosion protection work on components for many Swiss hydropower plants on behalf of Andritz Hydro AG in Kriens. Since autumn 2021, the cooperation between Andritz Hydro AG and Shiptec AG has been intensified.

In order to be able to carry out the corrosion protection work on the hydropower components quickly, Shiptec AG has rented and set up a permanent "branch office" directly at Andritz Hydro in Kriens. Shiptec is thus directly integrated into Andritz Hydro's processes. Parts can be washed, sandblasted and the paint applied in the hall. Several indoor cranes are available so that the large parts, which can weigh up to several tonnes, such as ball valves or inlet pipes, can be easily "handled". Depending on customer requirements, the parts are coated up to five times. Great importance is attached to planning reliability. It is very important to process the parts in the given time, because the end customers want to be able to produce electricity with them again as quickly as possible.

The Pradella power plant is the largest and most important EKW power plant, located near Scuol.
