Revision work - MS Walross

The workboat "MS Walross" is back in action on the Rhine.

The workboat "Walross" of the Eglisau-Glattfelden AG power station was at Shiptec for just under three months to carry out inspection work. The working platform with crane is used for felling the embankment around the power plant.

The two Schottel oar drives were dismantled from the working platform and completely disassembled and overhauled by our specialists. As an official Schottel importer and service partner in Switzerland, our mechanics are highly trained to carry out such work and have the necessary expertise.

Not only the drives were overhauled in Lucerne, but also the two floats needed refurbishment. In the front area, the front section had to be provided with new steel sheets. This area of the working vessel is heavily stressed by the approach to the embankment and shows a strong strain and wear over the years. The two floats were then provided with corrosion protection. In mid-September, the freshly painted "MS Walross" was handed over to the customer, the Eglisau-Glattfelden AG power station.
